SewerTechs has been helping clients achieve the desired results with less time, less disruption, and less overall expense. This is exactly what we do for our professional clients in both Washington State and Oregon with minimally disruptive solutions that include trenchless sewer repair.

History of the Technology

Trenchless technology in its earliest form dates back to the early 1970s when an agricultural engineer in Europe needed to repair an air duct without replacing it. This was the beginning of cured-in-place piping or CIPP, which made its way to the United States in a more accessible form in the 1980s. Since then, trenchless sewer repair solutions have evolved to include:

  • Trenchless sewer patching: A more location-specific approach to sewer repair used to address limited damage or single points of failure.
  • Pipe bursting: A method we often recommend if repair is not possible due to the severity of the damage.

Why Go Trenchless

Inspect it, jet it, line it, and forget it! This sums up why many of our clients prefer trenchless sewer repair. As a reliable trenchless service provider, the plumbers and contractors that we partner with appreciate being able to benefit from excavation alternatives they may not be able to provide.

The Process

The first step we take with trenchless sewer repair is to inspect the pipe with a high-resolution camera. If trenchless repair is appropriate, the most common approach we take is pipe lining(CIPP). It's done by inserting a resin-filled tube into the sewer line that needs to be repaired. We use an inflatable bladder to help the coating adhere to pipe walls. Hot water is put into the target pipe to speed up the curing process. You’ll then be left with a fully rehabilitated sewer line.

Benefits of Minimally Invasive Services

One of the top benefits of trenchless sewer repair is having the work primarily done through an existing access point called a cleanout. There is virtually no need to deal with major post-project restoration costs. A trenchless approach to sewer repair also offers the following benefits:

  • It's an environmentally-friendly repair method
  • The existing pipe is spared
  • The coating that's applied restores the pipe to a like-new condition
  • The results are long-lasting
  • The work can often be completed within a day or less
